JAMEL SHABAZZ: BACK IN THE DAYS

A Canadian premier of Brooklyn-based photographer Jamel Shabazz
For over twenty years, Shabazz has documented urban life – including the birth of hip hop youth culture – in his hometown and around the world. Back in the Days presented a series of his images from the 1980’s. The exhibition was selected as the cover image for the official catalogue and poster of CONTACT 2003. The exhibition includes a catalogue published by PowerHouse Books.

Programming for the event included photography workshop for local youth for Light Source, a Toronto non-profit photographic collective taught by Jamel Shabazz.
